The last time we checked in on the Sunset House, it was just a rendering. Today, interior and exterior framing is almost complete, and it’s exciting to see so much progress. The Sunset House is part of a growing portfolio of designs for Pittsburgh’s historic Hill District, where Cipriani Studios is committed to reinvigorating the neighborhood.
The materials selected in collaboration with our client are clean and urban, with natural accents of stone and wood. From the street, or from its north-facing entryway, the home looks quiet and welcoming thanks to a two-level entry canopy that we’ll clad in warm wooden slats. As you come around the back, though, floor-to-ceiling picture windows offer amazing views of the park, skyline and nightly sunsets.

Inside, we placed the common area on level two and installed large picture windows to give the owner both privacy and great views. We also connected the roof deck to the owner’s suite. This creates more daily encounters with the outdoors than a destination roof deck. In addition, the home’s living spaces include three bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a two-car garage.
